Noah’s Journey to California
10:00 Left home for the airport, circled with Harald in the car while Brynne checked in – didn’t fall asleep – uh oh.
10:30 Bawled all the way through security – the TSA is very nice to people with babies.
11:25 Last ones on the plane – nursed and fell asleep for take-off, then woke up and charmed the other passengers, including a very loud lady with a missing tooth from Queens.
12:30 Arrived at JFK for a very long layover. Did a little walking, a little sitting, a lot of people watching, a couple of diaper changes, a little sleeping on a pad while Brynne had an interesting conversation with a very nice Puerto Rican lady from a family of 17! Did some more walking, some more people watching, some more nursing, ate some pears.
5:45 FINALLY it was time to get on the plane. Sat in a second window seat with an empty middle seat and a very understanding neighbor in the aisle seat. He had ear plugs and an eye mask – good thinking. Nursed and then slept through most of the 45 minute wait for take-off. Woke up in time to nurse during take-off. Awake and cheerful – watched a little football, looked at the window shade for awhile, charmed some other passengers. Nursed, spit up big time, and pooped – big and messy and smelly (Understanding Neighbor held the bag open while Brynne threw in the diaper and wipes and then helpfully disposed of them in the bathroom). Finally nursed and fell asleep – slept on pad in middle seat for the duration of the flight.
10:15 (California time). Arrived in San Jose and was carried down the stairs by a helpful pilot. Charmed Nana and Grandpa while waiting for the luggage. Enjoyed the shifting patterns of light created by the streetlights on the way home in the car.
