Snake River Wine/Fruit/Pumpkins

Fall is a lovely time to visit the Snake River plain.  The first  stop was Williamson's for pumpkins, apples, and plums.

These ended up on a Zwetschgenkuchen

Then we took a short hike up Lizard Butte

And stopped at a couple of wineries.

Bonneville Hot Springs

Idaho is not just about potatoes and Republicans.  It also boasts a number of hot springs -- natural hot tubs in beautiful settings.  At Bonneville Hot Springs, the scalding water running down the cliff mixes with the bone-chilling river water to form the perfect outdoor bathtub.

Deadwood Lookout

Deadwood Lookout is a cozy old (but renovated) Forest Service fire lookout.  We are working on making a trip up here an annual tradition.

No TV, no computer, no phone service.  So there is nothing to do but enjoy the 360 degree views,

go hiking (unfortunately you are already at the top, so you have to start all of your hikes going down),

go mountain biking (nobody minds starting this activity going downhill),

watch the sunset,

stargaze,

and try not to lose your marbles
