My 3rd Birthday Party

So the weather here has been a little bit variable recently. Last Monday it snowed, rained, hailed, and was sunny, all in the same day. Yesterday (Friday) it snowed. But today, Saturday it was sunny and warm and spring-like -- perfect for my 3rd birthday barbecue.

The mamas and the papas had a good time chatting.

I had fun painting with a couple of my friends.

The big kids had fun too.

There was plenty of good food.

My friend Amelia gave me her Thomas the Tank Engine Legos that she doesn't play with anymore. That made my month.

We were having so much fun, that when it was time for cake, Papa had to work very hard to get my attention.

Mama made me a purple airplane cake, just as I requested.

Delicious

Another exciting thing that happened was that my friend James (2 years old) opened the swimming season in our small pond. The 4-yr-olds who saw it all happen said he jumped in on purpose and then cried because the goldfish (Max and Moritz) bit him. Since he's ok, everyone thinks this is a pretty funny story.

Camel's Back Park

Camel's Back Park is one of my favorite parks. It's right up against the foothills with lots of hiking trails. Last Saturday I convinced Mama and Papa to walk up and down the big hill twice.

First we took the more gradual route along the sides.

Then Papa took a break (see that tiny speck next to the tree down there?) while Mama and I went straight up the middle. As you can see, I went most of the way down on my popo.

Visitors from up north

Andrea and Steve and Isaiah came to visit from Lewiston, ID. Isaiah and I had fun playing together. Here I am showing him how I can play tapes on my tape player.

Big news

I've started sleeping in my big boy bed! At first I put books in so I wouldn't roll out, but now I'm used to it and I don't need them anymore.

One more winter hike

A few weeks ago there was a big storm in the mountains (and a couple inches down our way). This time Mama and Papa took me along for a hike/snowshoe. I walked where I could and rode on Papa's back when the snow got deep. Mama broke the trail, so everyone got a good workout. When I walked, I liked pretending my hand was a car driving along a road.
