Good Times in and Around Ortenberg, Germany (Part III)
Visiting Oma and Opa wasn't all swimming and eating ice cream. We had work to do as well.
I helped Opa water the flowers, though sometimes I found it more convenient to water the patio.

One day was a big day for wood cutting and stacking. Papa and Onkel Thomas helped put the wood through the saw, Opa took it in the trailer and unloaded it, and I helped Mama and Oma stack it up by staying out of the way (mostly).

Then we took a break and had a beer. Prost!

And a Kaesewecke -- delicious!
I got to spend lots of time with my Onkel Tom.
(Mama, Papa, and Onkel Thomas hike for the view and the exercise -- I hike for the snacks)

We ate a lot and played with cars too.
Another fun thing we got to do was to go on a family camping trip with the Ortenberg Musikverein that my Papa used to play in.Monday, August 11, 2008
Good Times in Ortenberg, Germany and Elsewhere (Part II)
Here I am in Markelfingen (down south near Lake Constance aka the Bodensee) with my friends Mathis, Marla, and Mathilda (Mats couldn't make it this year). I guess Mama and Papa didn't get the memo -- fortunately, my middle name is Markus.Apparently it runs in the family...
Mama and Papa took a short vacation to Saint Malo. I stayed behind -- somebody had to look after Oma and Opa. Good Times in Ortenberg, Germany and Elsewhere (part I)
Here we are visiting Oma and Opa in Ortenberg.
and I shared my cars with him.
Here we are at the Schuetzenhaus -- the coolest playground in these parts. Papa rode on the swing with me (the place that sells coffee and kuchen and beer was closed that day).
We did a lot of swimming in the afternoons.
When the ice cream truck comes to the beach, everyone drops whatever they are doing and gets in line.
