Cuties
Anna Updates
A: Hello! I started crawling at the end of August, so my newest nickname is Baby Godzilla. Kleenex boxes are kept up high, and all Lego and Lincoln Log structures are now erected on the dining room table or in the basement. I also have teeth. At the time this photo was taken I had two (you can see them if you look carefully), but now I am up to 6.
One Last Camping Trip
N&A: And it came with a spectacular view and plenty of peace and quiet (except for all the noise we made, which, Papa will tell you, was considerable)
N&A: Hiking around -- downhill to a series of dams and ponds and some old gold mining equipment. Uphill to a Forest Service lookout tower.
N&A: Here's Mama taking in the view from the Forest Service lookout tower. There's another lookout on another nearby mountain peak. Azimuth readings from the two lookouts can pinpoint the location of a back-country fire.
First Day of Kindergarten
N: Here I am on my first day of Kindergarten! Mama and Anna walk me to school each morning, and the bus drops me off in front of the door shortly after noon. My class is dual language -- half in English half in Spanish. So far I know how to say violin (violin), the letter Z (zeta), turtle (tortuga), and couch potato (sofa papa) in Spanish. My take on the first day was "not completely good, but not bad." By the 5th day or so, it was "completely fun."
If you are not German, you may be wondering what it is that I am holding in this photo. It's a Schultute -- a paper cone that I made (with help) and decorated and Mama and Papa filled with treats. Mine was filled with things Mama refused to buy for me at the grocery store at one time or another: Spiderman fruit snacks, jello in cups, Fruit Loops, Haribo gummy frogs, and glitter glue pens.
Summer's End
N: Webmaster's behind again, but that's nothing new. Here's how we spent the last days of summer:
N: Of course there was a trip to the fair. It's a lot like other fairs in other places, but here's one special thing you get at the fair in Idaho: a baked potato ice cream sundae (one more reason to come and visit us!)
N: There was also jousting at the fair. Since I've been fascinated by knights and castles ever since our Germany trip, I was over the moon. And my good friend Ella and her family came along as well, so that made it even better!
N: Mama and Papa have been married 7 years now! We celebrated with ice cream cake. Guess who took this photo? It's not easy taking photos with Mama's phone...
N: Here I am, living it up at Lucky Peak Lake on my very last day of summer.
