Spring Break
N&A: We started off in LA, where we caught up with Uncle Ben and Aunt Mashanda and visited the Long Beach Aquarium.
N&A: Then on to San Diego, where we caught up with Uncle Frank and Aunt Chris (and somehow forgot to take photos with them). We also checked out Mission San Diego.
A: Then we caught up with Anne at the pier in Seal Beach for burgers and shakes and fries at Ruby's. Turns out Noah doesn't really like milkshakes -- more for me!

N&A: Spanish architecture...
N&A: And Native American architecture. Not as imposing or enduring, perhaps, but at least you don't have to paint it all the time...
N&A: A quick trip to Ocean Beach
N&A: Next, we took the trolley to the border and walked across to Tijuana, where we hopped on a bus and headed to Ensenada.
N&A: While we were not as impressed with the city of Ensenada itself as we have been with other cities we have visited in Mexico (in terms of architecture, culture, a true center, and a sense of history), it did have yummy food, nice people, great sunsets, beautiful beaches, and lenient rules about kids in hot tubs (which was more like bathtub temperature anyway).
We stayed at Playa Estero -- a very family friendly and reasonably-priced resort -- yes, estero means estuary -- so there was only a small beach on the premises, but there was more beach around the corner (at low tide) and amazing views of seals on the other side of the estuary and crashing waves out beyond it. There was also an awesome pool (swimmable after an hour in the hot/warm tubs), an ok restaurant, and a Mexican history museum on the premises. Very few spring break types here (we saw the hotel staff reprimand someone for losing their towel when they didn't have anything underneath) -- peace and quiet.
N&A: The whole trip was a lot of fun except for crossing the border back into the US, which required a lot of patience (fortunately Anna wears diapers and Noah has a bladder of steel)
